Thompson, Eric

Born 1897. Son of Charles White Thompson (1864-1931) and Jane Thompson, of 28, Temple Street, Beverley Road, Hull (war Pension and Army address). Son of a Plumber and Glazier. He had two brothers, Walter and Wilfred and two sisters, Lilian and Theodore.

He worked as Chemist & Drayper’s Errand Boy (1911 Census) and then a shoe maker and Boot Repairer (Army record occupation). Described as 5 foot & 5 inches tall, 34-36 inch chest,

He enlisted on 02/05/1916. Served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, 88th Company. Discharged with sickness, on 05/09/1919. Awarded the Silver War Badge, (No: B322919).

Died  at  245, North Road, Hull on 15/01/1956, aged 59.

His elder brother, Sapper, Walter Thompson, 474284, 529Th Field Coy., R.E., was killed in action on 28th March 1918, aged 25. He was married to Elsie Loftus and lived at 19, Warmsley Street, Spring Bank, Hull.
