Sherwood, Thomas Dosser

Born Walkington, Beverley 1878. Married at Holy Trinity, Hull on 12 Oct 1902. Husband of Helen Louise Harraway, of 3, Stepney Grove, Fleet Street, Hull (Army address) and 18, Fairy Terrace, Grange Street, Hull (War pension address). They had six children. He worked as a Labourer. Described as 5 foot, 1.5 inches tall, 127 lbs weight, 34-36 inch chest, good physical development, “Good” character.

Enlisted at Hull, on 7th January 1915. Trained at Beverley and Ripon Army Camps. Served in the 13th East Yorkshire Regiment (Hull Pals) in Egypt and France. Transferred to the 2nd Durham Light Infantry on 30/3/1918 and 102nd Labour Corps, on 21/6/1918. Discharged on 22/2/1919. Died 18/12/1920 of Meningitis of the Brain, aged 42. His war pension was refused on ground he contracted condition after service.
