Brown, Fred

Born Hull, July 1889. Son of Annie Brown of 11, Boynton Street, Hessle Road Hull, (Army and war Pension address).

A Fireman. Described as 5 foot, 5 inches tall, brown eyes and brown hair, Tattoos left and right forearms, “honest sober, good worker” and “very good” character.

A former soldier. He Served as Lance Corporal, 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to France, on 15/01/1915. Wounded at Loos on 23/4/1915 and returned to service. Received Gun shot wounds to both hands (lost 2.5 fingers). Returned to England on 26/09/1916. Discharged on 29/09/1917. He had served in the army for 9 years and 29 days.

Died on 22/12/1917, aged 28. his army effects were left to his mother, Annie. No CWGC record of his death.
