Rawson, Fred

Born 21 Sep 1898 • Hessle, Hull. Son of George Rawson (1870-1954) and Ellen Ann Mason (1869-1921), of 10 Florence Avenue, Hull Road, Hessle and 8, Glasgow Street, Hull (War Pension address). He had two brother, Arthur and Herbert and two sisters, Ethel and Clara. 

he worked as a Gardener in Hessle. Described as 5 foot, 4.5 inch tall, 33-35 inch chest, 116 lbs weight, good physical development.

He enlisted in Beverley, on 28/06/1916, aged 17. Trained at Withernsea. Posted to France, on 04/12/1916. Served with the 1/4th East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 23/03/1918, aged 19. Buried at Hancourt British Cemetery, France.

his army effects were left to his father, George.
