Jackson, George Henry

Born Hull, 1881. Son of William Henry Jackson (1849-1923) and Jane Redfern (1847-1919), of 36, Wassand Street, Hull (1911 Census). Son of a Lighterman.

Married at St Johns Church, St Georges road, Hull on 16/06/1901, aged 19. Husband of Sarah Ann Jackson (1880–1947), of 11, Granville Terrace, Bean Street, Hull (War pension address). They had eleven children. He worked as a Rullyman. Described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 170 lbs weight, 38-40 inch chest, Very Good character.

Enlisted 30/10/1915. Posted to France, on 16/07/1916. Served with the 1/4th East Yorkshire regiment. Wounded on 20/09/1916, in left arm and Chest and returned to England. Posted to France again on 01/03/1917 and returned sick to England on 19/07/1917.  Discharged with Nephritis, on 19/12/1917. Awarded the Silver War Badge (N0: 295691). Died at Hull, on 21/11/1923, aged 42.
