Hind, Walter Stuart

Born Hull 1893. Son of Mary Eliza Hind. his grandmother, Mary Hind, lived at 4, Simon Terrace Campbell Street, Hull (1911 Census).

He was an Accountant Clerk, described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 33-35 inch chest, “Very good” Character.

He married at Hull Register Office, on 2 April 1913.  Husband of Rhoda Briglin (born 8 Jan 1892- 1982), of 5, Rose Terrace, Constable Street, Hull  (army address), 30, Clough Road, Newalnd, Hull, 36, Holland street, Hull and Rose Farm, Winestead, East Yorkshire (War pension addresses). They had one daughter, Edith Cavell Hind, born 27 Nov 1915.

He enlisted at Beverley, on 8 Dec 1915. Mobilised on April 1916. Served in the 7th York and Lancaster Regiment. Mentioned in Despatches by Lord Douglas Haig, on 9 July 1919. Discharged with 100% disability, on 13 Oct 1919, after 3 years and 261 days army service. Died of Tuberculosis, at Patrington, on 28 July 1921, aged 28.

His widow remarried and became Mrs Stephenson.
