Banks, Harry

Born Barton on Humber, Lincolnshire, 1886. Son of Joseph Henry Banks (1855-1933) and Mary Banks (1862-1941), of 35, Raikes Street, Drypool, Hull.

Brothers, John Henry, Joseph. Sisters, Eva and Elizabeth. Son of a Barge Lighterman

He married Ethel Capes, at Hull in 1908. Husband of Ethel at 78 Bright Street, Hull (1911 Census) and 7, Irenes Avenue, Lorraine Street, Hull (1921 Census & War Pension address). Worked as a Coal Heaver before WW1. He had two sons and a daughter and lived with his wife’s father, Simeon Capes and her extended family.

Served with the Royal Garrison Artillery. Discharged and worked for the Hull Corporation (Highways) as a Labourer after WW1. Died at Hull, on 25 Oct 1925, aged 39

His brother, Private, Joseph Banks, 3/6766, 8th East Yorkshire Regiment, enlisted in Hull and was killed in action, on 27 Sep 1917, aged 29. He lived at 16, Eugiene Terrace, Kent Street, Hull.
