Born Kirton-in-Lindsey, Lincolnshire, 1897. Real name was "Arthur Burton". Son of Martha Burton, of North Eastern Road, Thorne, near Doncaster. Enlisted in Hull. Formerly 19092, Lincolnshire Regiment. Transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), 17th Bn. Killed in action, on 18/09/1918, aged 21.
