Born Brighton, Sussex, 1889. Son of Charles and Susannah Sturt, of Brighton. He resided in Hull. Was a Professional Soldier. Joined the army aged 14 and served with the 12th Royal Lancers (1911 Census). Discharged after 13 years service, on 25th August 1915 Re- Enlisted in Oxford. Served with the 16th Royal Irish Rifles.
