Abbott, Thomas Richard

Born Limerick, Ireland, 1862. A Clerk and general Labourer. Described as 5 foot, 9inches tall, 147 lbs weight, 38-40 inch chest, grey eyes, brown hair, good vision, Church of England religion. H e has a 6th Lancers tattoo on his left forearm.

He had spent 8 years serving in the 16th Lancers. Served in the Sudan and was wounded twice.

Husband of Eliza Clara, of 187 Buckingham Street, Hull (1911 Census) and 70, Cleveland Street, Hull (War Pension address). They had two daughters, Doris and Nellie.

He enlisted at Hull, on 08/10/1914. (the 3rd EYR needed a storeman). Served with the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. He was discharged as unfit 45 days later, on 21/11/1914.

He died of heart disease, at Willerby Assylum, on 24/02/1916, aged 54. Although he didd not see overseas service his widow received a 15 Shilling weekly war pension on 4/4/1917.
