Pte, Samuel Abrahamson, 38th Royal Fusiliers

BORN RUSSIA 1891. HIS FAMILY LIVED AT 92 OSBORNE STREET. A BOOT MAKER. WELL KNOWN IN THE HULL MARKET PLACE. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, DURING 1917 AND SERVED FOR 15 MONTHS IN THE BRITISH ROYAL FUSILIERS’ JEWISH DIVISION. HE DIED OF MALARIAL FEVER,ON 14/10/1918, AGED 27. HE IS COMMEMORATED AT THE JERUSALEM WAR CEMETERY.
SAM WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE GRAND ORDER OF ISRAEL LODGE AND A MEMBER OF THE LODGE WHIST TEAM. HE LEFT £116 TO MORRIS ABRAHAMSON, BOOT MAKER, AT THIS WAS HIS PROBATE ADDRESS. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 12TH & 13TH DECEMBER 1918, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HULL JEWISH COMMUNITY ROLL OF HONOUR.
