Adams, Harry

Born New Whittington, Derbyshire, 1879. Son of Charles Adams (1835-1909) and Mary Ann Arnold (1841-1922), of 9, Church Street, Old Whittington, Derbyshire. He had two brothers and five sisters

Married Eliza Taylor at Chesterfield in 1898. He was a coal miner. described as 5 foot, 9 inches tall, 145 lbs 38-40 inch chest.

Husband of Eliza Adams, at 3, Park Avenue, Hull and c/0 15, West View, Wyndham Street, Hull (war Pension address). hey had one son Ernest born on 10 March 1900.

Enlisted at Chesterfield, Derbyshire, on 4 Sept 1914. Deserted for 7 days, and giveb 28 days detention, on 9 June 1915.

Posted to France on 29 July 1915, Served in the 2/4th Leicestershire Regiment (59th Division). Returned to England on 16 June 1916, suffering from Influenza and Myalgia. Posted to the 9th Leicestershire and 14th Training Battalion.

Convicted of 4 months desertion, Brocton Camp, on 6 March 1917. Given 1 years sentence, but returned to the regiment. Posted to France, on 23 March 1917. Died of wounds, on 30 Sept 1917, after 3 years and 27 days service. Buried at Mendinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium.

His army effects were left to the guardian of his son Ernest,  Mrs Bellamy, at 15, West View, Wyndham Street, Hull
