HE WORKED AS A SHIP PAINTER. HE MARRIED MARGARET BINKS, AT HULL, IN JULY 1914. THEY LIVED AT 40 , LABURNUM AVENUE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 33071, 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 15/04/1918, AGED 38. BURIED AT THE SOMME . HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “ONE OF THE BEST”
