
Born Beverley, 1897. Fifth son of William Allison (1862-1947) and Rachel Carris Fowler (1861-1925), of 20, Leconfield, Beverley, Yorkshire, (CWGC address). His father was born in Leconfield. His mother was born at Husthwaite, Yorkshire.
Son of a Wheelwright and self employed Joiner. He had five brothers, Joseph Henry, Herbert, Arthur, Ernest and Fred who worked with their father as Wheelers. he had one elder sister, Eva Middleton (1888-1971), who lived at 33, Westwood Road, Beverley.
Archie enlisted in Bolton. Formerly, Private, 6598, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Transferred as Private, 37057, with Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), 99th Company.
He was killed in action, on 18/02/1917, aged 19. He had no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
He was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
His army effects were left to his mother, Rachel.
His name is listed on the Leconfield & Arram war Memorial (35 men served, 4 died).
His brother, Herbert was a Police Constable, working for the North Eastern Railways and served in France and Egypt, as Gunner, 149554, in the Royal Garrison Artillery, “Y” Battery.
His younger brother, Fred Allison (1900-1974), served in the Royal Navy during the war.
