HE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 17/11/1914. REPORTING THAT BOTH PARENTS WERE DECEASED AND HE HAD NO BROTHERS OR SISTERS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 4 INCHES TALL, 138 LBS WEIGHT, 36 INCH CHEST AND OF ‘GOOD’ PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT. HE SERVED IN EGYPT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, 08/03/1916. ATTACHED TO 257 TUNNELLING COMPANY, RE’S.
