BORN HULL 1897. SON OF WILLIAM STEVEN HALL ATKINSON (1861-1898) & ELIZABETH WAUGH (1867-1941), AT 4 GRANTS TERRACE, SCARBOROUGH STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO OLDER BROTHERS, JAMES AND ARTHUR, AND ONE SISTER, SARAH JANE.

HE MARRIED ALICE EMMA AISTHORPE (1899-1922), AT ST ANDREWS CHURCH, GRIMSBY, ON 14/01/1916. HE WAS AGED 19. HIS WIFE WAS 16 YEARS OLD. HIS WIFE LIVED AT 42 CASTLE STREET, GRIMSBY.

HE ENLISTED IN GRIMSBY, SERVING WITH THE 1ST LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON 14/07/1916, AGED 19, AT NO:9 GENERAL HOSPITAL, ROUEN. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ALICE. HE HAD BEEN MARRIED FOR 6 MONTHS. HIS WIFE DIED AT GRIMSBY, ON 07/12/1922, AGED 23.
HE IS BURIED AT ST. SEVER CEMETERY, ROUEN. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “IN MEMORY, EVER DEAR”
