Barker, Albert Ernest

Born Goole. Enlisted in Hull. Son of Robert and Frances Barker, of 25, Widop Street, Goole, Yorkshire.

Served as Gunner, Royal Field Artillery, “D” Bty. 306th Bde. Killed in action, on 07/05/1918, aged 21. Buried at Gonnehem British Cemetery, France.

Gonnehem is a village about 7 kilometres north-west of Bethune and 7 kilometres east of Lillers. From the centre of the village take the D.182 road towards Lillers. The cemetery is 500 metres along this road on the right hand side.

He is remembered on the family grave, in Goole Cemetery.
