BORN LINCOLN, 1889. SON OF ROBERT AND JANE BARKER, OF BARTON ON HUMBER. A REGULAR SOLDIER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 3RD COLDSTREAM GUARDS IN THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 01/09/1914, AGED 25. HE IS BURIED AT GUARDS GRAVE, VILLERS COTTERETS FOREST, FRANCE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES ON 07/11/1914, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. * HIS NAME IS RECORDED IN THE DE RUVIGNY ROLLO F HONOUR, VOLUME 2.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, HERBERT BARKER, WHO LIVED AT CLARENDON STREET, IN HULL, SERVED WITH 16TH LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS, AND WAS KILLED AT ARRAS, ON 01/04/1918, AGED 35.
