BORN STOCTON ON TEES, 1881. SON OF WILLIAM BARLOW (1852-1918) AND MARY PARKER (1851-1882). HE HAD ONE BROTHER, WILLIAM PARKER BARLOW AND FIVE HALF SIBLINGS, FROM HIS FATHER’S SECOND MARRIAGE.

HE MARRIED EDITH BETSEY ANDREWS, AT HULL, IN 1906. HE HAD TWO CHILDREN, MARY ELIZABETH, BORN ON 28/12/1911 AND JOHN WILLIAM, BORN ON 29/04/1914.

SON IN LAW OF MR & MRS ANDREWS, 110 WHEELER STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). FORMERLY EMPLOYED AT EARLE’S SHIPBUILDERS. HE WROTE A POEM TO HIS WIFE, EDITH BETSY, AT 110 , WHEELER STREET, HULL, WHICH WAS PUBLISHED WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 3RD JUNE 1915. *

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. JOINED THE 1ST EYR ‘C’ COMPANY. WENT TO FRANCE IN JANUARY 1915. KILLED IN ACTION, AT ARRAS, ON 26/06/1917, AGED 36. COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/06/1917, 28/07/1917 & HULL NEWS 21/07/1917.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH, JARRATT STREET, HULL.
