BORN HULL 1889. SON OF HENRY BARMBY (1850-1893) & MARIA MARGARET HICK (1861-, HE LIVED AT 54, MARMADUKE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS) WITH SIBLINGS, LEONARD, BLANCHE & EMMIE. ONCE EMPLOYED BY POLONEYS, OF HULL, HE BECAME A REGULAR ARMY SOLDIER. HE ENLISTED HULL. SERVED IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY (1911 CENSUS). POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 16/08/1914. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 08/04/1916, AGED 26. BURIED AT NOEUX-LES-MINES COMMUNAL CEMETERY, FRANCE.

HE HAD BEEN AT THE FRONT, SINCE THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. HIS SERGEANT MAJOR, WROTE ” HE WAS SUCH A NICE BOY, BRAVE, HONEST AND LIKED BY ALL HIS COMRADES.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 19/04/1916 AND 09/04/1917. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SHARED WITH HIS THREE SIBLINGS AT 54, MARAMADUKE STREET, HULL.
