HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS. SERVED IN EGYPT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 28/12/1915. KILLED BY A SNIPER, ON 25/06/1917, AGED 27
BURIED AT ORCHARD DUMP CEMETERY, ARLEUX-EN-GOHELLE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR ANOTHER”.
HIS TWO BROTHERS, SGT, JOHN BARNES, 7TH EYR, WAS KILLED ON, 10/07/1916, & PRIVATE, GEORGE BARNES, SOUTH WALES BORDERERS, DIED ON 12/10/1917.

THEIR DEATHS WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 31/10/1917. *
