BORN LONDON 1880. HUSBAND OF SARAH MARIA BARTON LIVED AT 31 , FLEET STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS IN 1914. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 13/671, 13TH EYR. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, AT THE CANANDIAN CLEARING STATION, POPERINGHE, ON 10/06/1917, AGED 37.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 21/06/1917. *

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW SARAH AND SON, THOMAS ERIC BARTON.

HE IS BURIED IN BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “FOR ENGLAND’S GLORY”

HIS NAME IS ALSO INSCRIBED ON THE PILLARS INSIDE ST ST MARY’S CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
