HE MARRIED SARAH ELIZABETH LEAK (1897-1963), AT DRYPOOL, HULL, ON 23/08/1913. THEY LIVED AT 49 LEE SMITH STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL. SERVED AS A DRIVER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/08/1917, AGED 21. HI ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW AND CHILD. BURIED AT DICKEBUSCH NEW MILITARY CEMETERY EXTENSION. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “GOD IS HIS OWN INTERPRETER”

THEIR ONLY SON WALTER FREDERICK BARTON (1914-1941), WAS KILLED IN WORLD WAR 2, AT SINGAPORE, ON 08/12/1941, AGED 27.
