BORN WETWANG, YORKSHIRE 1881. SON OF GEORGE BECKETT (1856-1910) AND MARY HALL. HE WORKED AS A FARM SERVANT IN NAFFERTON (1901 CENSUS). ALSO WELL KNOWN IN WETWANG, EAST YORKSHIRE.

HE MARRIED ALICE MAUD MARY GIBSON, AT HULL, IN 1907. THEY HAD TWO SONS. HE WAS BOARDING AT 293, HOLDERNESS ROAD (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS), AND WORKED AS A DRAPER’S ASSISTANT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 205393, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE, AND TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 245379, 10TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT PASSCHENDAELE, ON 16/10/1917, AGED 36.

BURIED AT HOOGE CRATER CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW AND TWO CHILDREN.
