Bell, Albert Edward

BORN HULL 1879. HIS WIFE ANNIE & DAUGHTER ENID LIVED AT, 1 CRYSTAL GROVE, PULMAN STREET, HULL (ADDRESS FROM THE HULL DAILY MAIL 04/09/1916 & 15/09/1916). SHE LATER MOVED TO 14 ROSAMOND STREET, HULL. SHE RE-MARRIED ON 17/11/1917 AND LIVED AT 1 ARLINGTON AVENUE, PERTH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

BEFORE THE WAR HE HAD BEEN A REGULAR SOLDIER FOR 17 YEARS AND WORKED AS A LABOURER FOR MESSRS C D HOLMES, ALFRED STREET AND ALSO FOR THE NER. HE WAS WELL KNOWN ON THE WEST HULL BOWLING GREEN.

AS A RESERVIST HE WAS RECALLED AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. HE LEFT FOR FRANCE AT THE START OR WAR AND HAD BEEN WOUNDED ON 13TH NOVEMBER 1914. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION AT SERRE ON THE 18TH AUGUST 1916, AGED 36. BURIED AT SERRE ROAD CEMETERY No.2, SOMME, FRANCE.

HE LEFT A WIDOW AND CHILD. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 5TH SEPTEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *.
