BORN GLASGOW 1893. ONLY SON OF MARGARET CAMERON (1863-1952) & THE LATE BENJAMIN BERRY (1826-1904), OF 8A NORTH MARINE ROAD, SCARBOROUGH AND 44 , GREY STREET, HULL. HE HAD TWO SISTERS – FLORENCE AND MARY. A DENTIST AND FORMER VOLUNTEER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY.

HE ENLISTED ON 01/03/1915. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 54419, IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS, 15TH SIGNALS. SEVERELY REPRIMANDED ON 18/08/1916 FOR REMOVING HIS EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING WHILE ON GUARD AS A CORPORAL. COMMISSIONED MAY 1917. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/07/1917, AGED 24. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING AT YPRES.
