BORN HULL 1894. SON OF THE LATE ALEXANDER BISHOP (1862-1910) & SARAH MOORE (1867-1915), OF 146, PLANE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). A COMMERCIAL CLERK AND FORMER BLUNDELL’S WORKER. ASSOCIATED WITH ST GEORGES METHODIST CHURCH SINCE BOYHOOD. HIS FATHER AND SISTER LAURA (1893-1913) HAD RECENTLY DIED. HE WAS HIS WIDOWED MOTHER’S ONLY SON. DESCRIBDED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 33-35 INCH CHEST, GOOD VISION, “GOOD” CHARACTER. HE WAS SINGLE AND HAD THREE SISTERS, ETHEL, LAURA AND DORIS.

HE ENLISTED IN THE 5TH EYR TERRITORIALS ON 09/05/1911. PROMOTED CORPORAL, ON 01/04/1913. ENLISTED AT HULL ON 05/08/1914. SERVED WITH THE 5TH EAST YORKSHIRE CYCLISTS. DISCHARGED AS UNFIT, ON 25/09/1914. DIED OF PNEUMONIA, ON 12/11/1914, AGED 20. BURIED WITH FULL MILITARY HONOURS IN HULL.
HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 16TH NOVEMBER 1914, AND IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 21ST NOVEMBER 1914, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH *
