AN EX JOSEPH RANK FLOUR EMPLOYEE. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1ST KINGS OWN SCOTTISH BORDERERS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 29/11/1916, AGED 19. HE IS BURIED IN FRANCE, AT GROVE TOWN CEMETERY, MEAULTE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “SWEET IS THE MEMORY OF MY DARLING BOY – MOTHER”
