BORN HULL 1894. SON OF THE LATE JOHN WILLIAM & KATE BLYTHE, OF 7 GREEN LANE, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. A COAL MERCHANT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON THE 12/12/1915, AGED 21 YEARS, AND 8 MONTHS. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM AS, 5 FOOT 5.5 INCHES TALL, 132 LBS WEIGHT, 36 INCH CHEST. TRAINED AT RUGELEY CAMP, WHERE HE OVERSTAYED HIS PASS, THREE TIMES. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 09/07/1916. SERVED AS A LANCE CORPORAL, IN THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/09/1918, AGED 24. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS ELDEST BROTHER, WILLIAM BLYTHE, AT 24 GREEN LANE, HULL. HE ALSO LEFT SIBLINGS, EDWARD, POLLY AND NELLIE.
