Booth, Harold Skinner

BORN HULL 1894. SON OF FREDERICK WILLIAM BOOTH (1859-1940) AND LAURA LEE (1861-1917), OF 72 LAMBERT STREET, HULL. ONE OF SIX CHILDREN.

HE WORKED AS A CLERK FOR THE CO-OP SOCIETY.

HE MARRIED VIOLET DORIS WRIGHT, IN HULL, IN MARCH 1916.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS CORPORAL,WITH THE ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS, ‘S’ SUPPLY COLUMN, AUXILIARY HORSE TRANSPORT. DIED IN BELGIUM, ON 20/07/1917, AGED 23. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW AT 66 , BRIDLINGTON STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS).

BURIED AT VLAMERTINGHE NEW MILITARY CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “TO MEMORY EVER DEAR FROM WIFE & SONNY”

HIS NAME IS COMMEMORATED AT ST MARY’S CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
