ENLISTED HULL AND SERVED IN FRANCE AS A BOMBING OFFICER. HE WAS KILLED BY A SHELL BURST AT ARRAS AGED 21. BURIED AT WANCOURT CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HE WAS HIGHLY REGARDED BY OFFICERS, NCO’S AND MEN ALIKE FOR HIS GALLANTRY, ENERGY AND PERSONAL CHARM. UNMARRIED. HE LEFT SISTER ALICE & £295 TO HIS MOTHER IN HIS WILL. BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF D M STEVENSON, COAL EXPORTERS & IS RECORDED ON THE COMPANY ROLL OF HONOUR. HE IS ALSO LISTED IN THE DE RUVIGNY ROLL OF HONOUR.
