Boynton, Alfred

BORN HULL 1880. SON OF JOHNSON BOYNTON (1841-1922) AND ANN CARTWRIGHT. HUSBAND OF ELIZABETH, WHO LIVED AT 46 ESSEX STREET, HULL. SERVED ON MINESWEEPERS. HIS TRAWLER, COLLIDED WITH A WARSHIP IN THE HUMBER WITH THE LOSS OF SIX LIVES. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 01/01/19120. NO CWGC RECORDS. HIS SON ALFRED WAS ALSO LOST AT SEA ON HMS ‘REED’ IN 1940.

On 12/01/1920 the Hull steam trawler SINGAPORE (H505) sank following a collision with cruiser HMS ADVENTURE (b 1904) which was anchored off Immingham, River Humber. Six crew lost, three rescued.
