Brattan, James Herbert

Born Hull 12/02/1895. Son of Robert Edward Brattan and Martha Ann Brattan, of 14, Heron Street, Hull (War Pension address). He had four brothers and one sister.

A Boy Sailor. Described as 5 foot, 5.5 inches tall, 34 -36.5 inch chest, Red Hair, Grey eyes, fair complexion, Mole of right cheek.

He enlisted in the Royal Navy, on 12/02/1913. Invalided. Discharged on 24 Jun 1920. Died on 15/11/1920, aged 25.

His brother, Richard Albert Brattan served as 12/1262, 12th EYR

His brother, Charles Christopher Brattan, 20249, 1st Lincolnshire regiment, died of Bright Disease on 29/08/1916, leaving widow, Jane Ellen, at 10, Kingston Place, Liverpool Street, Hull.

His younger brothers, Robert Edward Brattan, and Thomas  Redvers Brattan, also served in the Royal Navy and survived the war.
