Bridger, Frederick Ewart

Born Hull, 1888. Son of William Maker Bridger and Mary Ann Bridger at 3, Zion Terrace, Bean Street, Hull (1911 Census); 4, Regent Street, Hull (Army address) and 47, Sandringham Street, Hull (War Pension address). He was a Compositor of “Very Good” Character, 5 foot, 6 inches tall, 36-38 inch chest, blue eyes, dark brown hair, Church Of England religion. he had an elder brother, William and sisters, Ana and Ivy.

He enlisted at Hull, on 29th May 1915. Served in the1/5th East Yorkshire Cyclists. Posted to France, on 26th July 1916. Suffered from Loose cart ledge to right knee whilst falling in a trench. Wounded and returned to Leeds, War Hospital, England on 15th December 1916. he then caught Pneumonia and Bronchitis. Discharged on 28th August 1917, after 2 years and 92 days service. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 131797). Died in Hull in January 1919.
