BORN HULL 1897. SON OF CHARLES VALENTINE BROCKLESBY (1858-1912) & SARAH ANN AYSCOUGH (1871-1943), OF 1 WENLOCK TERRACE, RUSTENBURG STREET, HULL, AND “DAIRY FARM” DANSOM LANE, HULL. A FORMER RECKITTS WORKER. HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 31/08/1914 AT THE AGE OF 17, REPORTING THAT HE WAS A BUTCHER, AGED 23. HE WAS DISCHARGE AFTER 61 DAYS AS TOO YOUNG. HE RE-ENLISTED AND SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL, 20552, 1ST BATTALION, KINGS OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT YPRES, ON 08/05/1915, AGED 18. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE DANSOM LANE ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL.
