BORN HULL 20/11/1889. ELDEST SON OF ARTHUR BROOKS & LUCY MOSES, AT 66, VICTORIA AVENUE, HULL & ALSO NO:18 VICTORIA AVENUE. HIS FATHER WAS A MERCHANT ACCOUNTANT. EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. PRIOR TO WAR, HE SERVED AS A TROOPER IN THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. ALSO EMPLOYED AS A CORN MERCHANT CLERK.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN OCTOBER 1915. JOINED THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, ON 18/6/1915. TRANSFERRED TO THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY FOUR MONTHS LATER. PROCEEDED TO EGYPT ON 15/12/1916. SERVED IN PALESTINE AND GAZA. POSTED TO FRANCE, JUNE 1916. JOINED THE MACHINE GUN CORPS. DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED ON 29/10/1918 AT ROUEN HOSPITAL. BURIED AT ST SEVER. HE WAS UNMARRIED.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL WW1 MEMORIAL AND AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, NEWLANDS, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL.

HE IS LISTED IN THE DE RUVIGNEY ROLL OF HONOUR.
