BORN HULL 06/04/1879. SON OF CHARLES BROOKS, OF BRANTINGHAM, BROUGH, EAST YORKSHIRE. RAISED BY GRANDPARENTS AT 24 REED STREET, HULL. HUSBAND OF  ROSE SIMPSON & EIGHT CHILDREN, AT 9 SOUTHGATE GARDENS, HORNSEA (CWGC ADDRESS) EMPLOYED AS A RAILWAY PLATER.

HE ENLISTED ON 06/01/1915. SERVED WITH THE RAILWAY PALS, THE 17TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. DIED ON 19/11/1918, AGED 39.

HE IS BURIED AT BARD COTTAGE CEMETERY, WEST-VLAANDEREN, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE READS, “PEACE PERFECT PEACE”.

HIS WIDOW WAS AWARED A £5 GRANT  & WEEKLY PENSION OF 50 SHILLINGS, FOR HERSELF AND HER EIGHT CHILDREN.
