BORN HULL 1896. SON OF WALTER AND SUSANNAH BROUGHTON, OF  24, WEST DOCK AVENUE, HULL (PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS). NEPHEW AND ADOPTED CHILD OF MARY DIXON, OF 9, WALCOTT AVENUE, WALCOTT STREET, HULL AND 1, LILLIES TERRACE, GILLETT STREET, HULL.  EMPLOYED AS A HULL FISH WORKER.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL. SERVED WITH 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 22/04/1916, AGED 20. DIED WITH LANCE CORPORAL, MICHAEL JOHN KELLY. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, WALTER. HIS MOTHER RECIVED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 5 SHILLINGS FOR HIS DEATH
