Brown, Charles

Born Hull, 1887. Son of Charles and Sarah Brown, of 132, Regent Street Hull (1911 Census).

Married at Hull in 1910. Husband of Charlotte Staples (1887-1975), of 5, Ash Grove, Linneaus Street Hull (1911 Census) and 118, & 128, Regent Street, Anlaby Road, Hull (War Pension addresses). They had twin girls, Florence and Ivy Stella and another daughter, Dorothy. He was a Coal Teamer for the North Eastern Railway Company (Shipment Of Coal).

He enlisted at Hull, on 4/12/1914. Served as Lance Corporal, in the 1/4th, 3rd, 7th & 8th East Yorkshire Regiments. Posted to France, on 25/7/1916. Wounded 26/9/1917. Discharged on 21/1/1919. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No:500488), British War Medal and Victory Medal.

Died of Emphysema following gun shot wounds to Thorax, and also shrapnel wounds to Pelvis, on 12 Apr 1920, aged 32.
