BORN HULL 1892. SON OF PTE. GEORGE T. & AMY BROWN, OF 66 PEEL STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). EX HUDSON & SMITH, HULL MARKET PLACE EMPLOYEE. LIVING AT 7 WILBERFORCE TERRACE, ARGYLL STREET, HULL (HDM ADDRESS 13/07/1916. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EAST LANCS REGIMENT. WAS BADLY WOUNDED  IN THE CHEST AND BACK ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME. SPENT TIME RECOVERING AT ROUEN HOSPITAL, FRANCE. HE WAS KILLED AT PASSCHENDAELE, ON 31/07/1917, AGED 25. COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE, MEMORIAL, YPRES. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE, WHO WAS ALSO A SERVING SOLDIER.

PERCY’S DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 13/07/1916, 01/09/1916 AND ON 01/09/1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
