BORN HULL 1882. ONLY SON OF JAMES BROWN (1853-1901) AND DINAH ROBINSON (1853-1914), OF 8 WEST VIEW, AIR STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HE HAD NO SIBLINGS. WORKED AS A GENERAL LABOURER. UNMARRIED. HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 06/04/1916, AGED 34 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4 INCHES TALL, 126 LBS WEIGHT, 37-39 INCH CHEST. POSTED TO FRANCE, O04/04/1917. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 26412, 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. SEVERLEY WOUNDED BY GUN SHOT TO THE BACK, LEGS AND RIGHT FOOT, ON 04/06/1917. HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON 19/06/1917, AGED 35, AT NO:19 CASULATY CLEARING STATION. BURIED AT MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT, FRANCE. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 349 DAYS AND HAD BEEN AT THE FRONT FOR 11 WEEKS.

WITH NO PARENTS. HE LIVED WITH HIS AUNT, SARAH BEHARRELL  AT 3 , SYKES STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). HIS UNCLE, ANGUS ROBINSON, AT 22, THORNEY LANE, MIDGELY, YORKSHIRE.  HIS ARMY EFFECTS, OF TIN, TOBACCO, CAP BADGE AND BELT, WERE LEFT TO HIS THREE UNCLES, ANGUS, THOMAS AND HENRY ROBINSON AND AUNT, SARAH BEHARRELL.
