ENLISTED BEVERLEY ON 29/08/1914, AGED 19 YEARS DESCRIBED AS JUST OVER 5 FOOT 6 INCHES TALL, 133 LBS, BROWN HAIR, GREY EYES, FRESH COMPLEXION. SERVED IN EGYPT FROM 25/08/1915. RETURNED HOME ON 27/10/1915. DISCHARGED WITH HEART DISEASE ON 8/12/15. DIED AT HOME ON 01/12/1918 AND BURIED IN HULL. HIS NAME IS RECORDED IN THE HOLY TRINITY CHURCH BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE.
