HE ENLISTED IN YORK, WITH THE WEST RIDING REGIMENT ON THE 3RD FEBUARY 1903, AGED 18 YEARS AND SIX MONTHS. HE NEVER MARRIED. DIED OF TYPHOID IN GLASGOW HOSPITAL, ON 11/03/1915, AGED 30.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, MRS ELIZABETH BURN, OF HOTHAM, YORK.
HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 17TH MARCH 1915. *
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, ALBERT BURN, 42892, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT WAS KILLED IN ACTION IN OCTOBER 1917, (WAR PENSION RECORDS).
