Butler, Ernest William

Born Bourton, Gloucestershire, 1875. Worked as a Journeyman Blacksmith, in Leven (1911 census). Described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 35-37 inch chest.

He Married Annie Boyce Batholomew, at St Judes Church, Milton, Oxford, in 1915. She was older, born in Dorset, on 30/08/1866. They already had four children and lived at 12, Industrial Terrace, Bean Street, Hull (War Pension address). Their eldest child was in a Truants school.

He enlisted on 09/03/1915, aged 40. Served as Shoeing Smith, TS/6394, Royal Army Service Corps. Discharged with Mania, after 70 days. He Died of general paralysis and Insanity, at Hull, on 11/04/1916, aged 42. His widow was awarded a weekly war pension, of 27 shillings and sixpence, on 04/04/1917.
