BORN HULL 1891. SON OF STEPHEN CARD & MARY ESTER BROWN, OF 45 PROVIDENCE ROW, HULL.

HE MARRIED, MARY ANN DEETH (1890-1965), AT ST PAUL’S CHURCH, HULL, IN OCTOBER 1913. EMPLOYED AS AN OIL MILL LABOURER. THEY LIVED AT 1 CARLTON TERRACE, PROVIDENCE ROW, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS), WITH THEIR SON, GEORGE (1914-1994).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ‘A’ COMPANY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 16/11/1916, AGED 25. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW , MARY AND SON. HE LEFT BROTHERS, THOMAS RICHARD, HAROLD, ALFRED, AND SISTER, ETHEL MAY CARD.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 09/01/1917, 13/01/17 & 13/02/1918.
BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “TO MEMORY EVER DEAR”
