BORN HULL 1889. SON OF ROBERT THOMAS CARR (1850-1898) & REBECCA CARR, OF 4 ADA’S TERRACE, WATERLOO STREET, HULL AND 16, STRICKLAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HIS MOTHER WAS REMARRIED TO ARTHUR SKINNER, AT HULL IN 1904. HE WAS BROTHER AND STEP BROTHER, TO GEORGE, ROBERT, HARRY, ALBERT, WALTER, PERCY, ARTHUR, AND CHARLES, AND SISTER, FLORENCE. FRED WORKED AS A PACKER BY TRADE.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 06/08/1815, AGED 26 YEARS AND 7 MONTHS. SERVED IN THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 5.5 INCHES TALL, 133 LBS WEIGHT, 36 INCH CHEST SIZE. HIS ARMY ADDRESS WAS 16, STRICKLAND STREET, HULL. HE MARRIED BRIDGETT ELLEN FREEMAN, AT ST CHARLES CATHOLIC CHURCH, ON THE 18/12/1915. HE WENT ABSENT AFTER THE WEDDING AND LOST 10 DAYS PAY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 25/03/1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 08/03/1917, AGED 28. HE HAD SERVED 1 YEAR AND 216 DAYS IN THE ARMY.

HE LEFT WIDOW, BRIDGETT ELLEN (NELLIE), WHO MOVED TO 2, PLEORIA TERRACE, BLUNDELL STREET, HULL, IN 1919 (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE IS BURIED AT FAUBOURG D’AMIENS CEMETERY, ARRAS, FRANCE. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH MEMORIAL, JARRATT STREET, HULL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 27/04/1917. HIS ARMY PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER REBECCA AT 16, STRICKLAND STREET, HULL AND THEN HIS STEP FATHER, ARTHUR SKINNER, WHO MOVED TO 12, LIDDELL STREET, HULL.

HE LEFT BROTHERS, AND SISTER, FLORENCE.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, CHARLES HENRY CARR, SERVED WITH THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS, IN THE DARDENELLES. INVALIDED TO MALTA WITH BRONCHITIS ON 04/10/1915. TRANSFERRED TO THE 3RD EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY AFTER 1 YEAR AND 100 DAYS, ON 26/11/1915. DIED AT HOME, ON 20/11/1917, AGED 42. BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, PERCY CARR, 15099, EAST YORKSHIRE WAS DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY AND DIED IN HULL, IN 1919, AGED 33.
