BORN HULL 13/09/1884. SON OF JAMES CHAMBERS (1850-1917) AND ALICE CHAMBERS, AT 33 JAMES RECKITT AVENUE, GARDEN VILLAGE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A RIVETTER. HE WAS THE FIFTH OF THIRTEEN CHILDREN. WORKED AS A CAULKER FOR MESSRS COOK, WELTON AND GEMMEL SHIP YARD, OF BEVERLEY.

MARRIED AT BEVERLEY, IN 1907. HIS WIFE, FLORENCE HOLMES (1888-1970), AND THREE CHILDREN LIVED AT MILL HOUSE, GROVEHILL, BEVERLEY (NAVAL RECORDS) AND 4, MELROSE VILLAS, BEVERLEY (CWGC ADDRESS). HE DIED OF DOUBLE PNEUMONIA CONTRACTED ON ACTIVE SERVICE. HE IS BURIED AT BARI WAR CEMETERY, IN ITALY. HIS DEATH ON 16/10/1918, WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 29TH OCTOBER 1918, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, WILLIAM CHAMBERS, ROYAL FUSILIERS, AGED 19, WAS SEVERELY GASSED IN ACTION, ON THE 8TH SEPTEMBER 1918. HE DIED AT HULL, IN 1926, AGD 27.
