BORN HULL 1897. STEP SON OF ARTHUR GEORGE DIXON AND LEAH CHAPMAN, OF 51 REFORM STREET, HULL. HIS FATHER, JOSEPH HASTING CHAPMAN (1861-1901) DIED IN 1901.

ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, AT THE SOMME, ON 17/11/1916, AGED 19. UNMARRIED, HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, LEAH DIXON. HE ALSO LEFT SIBLINGS, WILFRED, GEORGE, ALICE AND EVA, AT 51 , REFORM STREET, HULL.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. HIS NAME WAS LISTED ON THE REFORM STREET ROH. HIS HIS NAME IS ALSO RECORDED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL WW1 MEMORIAL.
