Christian, William Robert (Billy)

BORN DOVER 1885. SON OF ELEANOR JANE DIXON (1863-1929) & EDWARD JARVIS CHRISTIAN (1856-1927), OF 11, TEMPLE STREET, HULL. HIS FAMILY HAD MOVED TO HULL, IN 1901 AND KEPT A DOGS HOME. HE WAS BROTHER TO CHARLES, HARRY, FRED AND ELEANOR CHRISTIAN.

‘BILLY’ BECAME A PROFESSIONAL SOLDIER. HE LIVED IN FULHAM, FARNBROUGH, HAMPSHIRE AND HULL. HE MARRIED AGNES I PALLISER, AT FULHAM, IN 1911.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS COMPANY SERGEANT MAJOR, 5867, 2ND BATTALION, COLDSTREAM GUARDS. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 15/08/1915. KILLED AT BULLECOURT, ON 27/08/1918, AGED 33. HE IS BURIED AT MORY STREET MILITARY CEMETERY, ST. LEGER, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW,  AGNES JANE, IN KENSINGTON, LONDON. THEY HAD ONE SON ROBERT (BORN 25/12/1918). SHE REMARRIED AND BECAME MRS FINCH.
