BORN HULL 1882. SON OF ROBERT AND HARRIET CLARE, OF 2 GORDON TERRACE, COURTNEY STREET, HULL. A MILWRIGHT’S LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 22054, 7TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION ON 16/09/1916, AGED 34. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 24/10/1916.

HE LEFT BROTHERS, HENRY, GEORGE, ROBERT AND HERBERT CLARE, WHO SURVIVED THE WAR.
